Catalina Express provides a unique, upbeat and friendly work environment. Offering seasonal and year-round employment on land and at sea, our passenger counts normally peak between April and September.

We begin recruiting seasonal staff in February of each year to start training for the busy spring and summer months. With Labor Day officially ending summer, we gradually begin reducing our staff to compensate for the change in business demands during the fall and winter months. If an employee is not retained during our off-peak season, but maintained a positive employment record with Catalina Express he/she may be invited to come back the following season.

Vessel Custodian

We are looking for qualified individuals to help keep our vessels in top quality condition. Vessel Custodians will clean, polish, and maintain the appearance of the exterior and interior of our 8 vessels. Duties involve washing hulls, scrubbing decks, cleaning interiors including maintaining high cleanliness standards of restrooms, carpets, and interior surfaces.

This position requires early morning hours (0400 start times). Must have the ability to lift and carry at least 70 lbs. May work at either our San Pedro location or Long Beach or a combination of both. Weekends and holidays are required.

The starting wage for this position is $22 per hour.

Call Center Representative

We’re seeking an enthusiastic, quick-learning “voice of Catalina Express.” Someone that can master our policies and scripts to seamlessly manage high-volume bookings, changes, and cancellations while providing exceptional passenger service.

Hourly wage begins at $19 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • High-Volume Support: Efficiently handle inbound calls while meeting productivity and quality targets.
  • Booking Management: Expertly create, modify, and cancel reservations using company scripts and product knowledge.
  • Problem Solving: Identify passenger needs, research issues, and provide timely, accurate solutions.
  • Sales & Service: Build rapport through “above and beyond” service and identify upselling opportunities.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Soft Skills: Patient, empathetic, and professional with strong active-listening skills.
  • Efficiency: Strong multitasker with excellent time-management abilities.
  • Technical: Proficient in computer navigation and typing (min. 35 WPM).

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Bilingual: Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
  • Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with call center platforms and digital dashboards.

Work Environment

  • Flexibility: Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
