Coffee Spots on Catalina

a kitchen counter

As a coffee lover, I cannot imagine a morning without the smell of brewing coffee.  I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a Coffee Connoisseur, but I definitely think I do a good job pretending to be. Over my trips to Catalina, I have explored a variety of coffee shops on Catalina Island to see what they were brewing up.a kitchen counter

Scoops
Recommendation: Cinnamon Almond Milk Macchiato

Located just before the Green Pleasure Pier, Scoops is known for their rich and creamy homemade traditional Italian gelato beautifully displayed as you walk in through the door. As you stroll by, you will also notice the aroma of Starbucks coffee, which they are the only ones on the Island to serve.

Their Cinnamon Almond Milk Macchiato is heavenly without all those calories. The pinch of cinnamon adds a sweet and savory flavor all at the same time with its aromatic scent. You can have this treat with or without whipped cream, but since you’re on vacation splurge and add the delicious whipped cream.a cup of water

Lloyd’s of Avalon
Recommendation: Ginger Mocha

Have you ever had a Ginger Mocha? Well, try your first one at Lloyd’s. With the hint of spice along with chocolate, this is definitely a feast, maybe even a dessert.

Lloyd’s was established in 1941 and is known as the taffy originator on the Island. They have been making their own taffy since they opened the door and sometimes you can see their taffy being spun on the Taffy Puller. People might not think of grabbing their coffee here and they would be missing out. Look out for their menu and see their unique options.

Catalina Island Brew House
Recommendation: Coconut Latte

Every time I am on the Island, I stop by Catalina Island Brew House for their Coconut Latte and feel transported to Island Time with this delight in hand. Located just a little past the Green Pier, this spot has a variety of coffee options as well as flavors. You can combine as many as you’d like or just stick to a simple one.

Catalina Island Brew House is also a brewery serving a variety of brews as well as food. They are very well known for their beer and pretzel pairs and delicious flatbread pizzas.

Toyon Grill
Recommendation: Espresso shot or Iced Caramel Latte

This unique new eatery just opened a few weeks ago and it’s already creating a buzz for its wonderful menus. The first spot you will see as you are walking into town as you get off the boat, this is a waterfront location serves tasty coffee options. This is a great spot to stop and get your Espresso shot 1st thing, or end your day with an Iced Caramel Latte. Both known for their wonderfully bold taste it just depends if you want it strong or sweet.

Toyon Grill is located in the Catalina Island Conservancy Trailhead building and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is also a great spot for groups.graphical user interface, website

Catalina Coffee & Cookie Company
Recommendation: Blueberry Coffee

Located in the Metropole Marketplace, this family-owned gem is in a unique spot where you can sit down and enjoy live island-style music and forget all your worries. With an extensive java menu of beverages, it’s hard to stick to one. This location is known for its’ wonderful blueberry coffee that goes just about with any creamer.

Catalina Coffee & Cookie Company’s owners, Erin and Gene make the best dark chocolate pistachio bark that you won’t find anywhere else. With just one taste you will be mesmerized.

Hopefully my coffee voyage will help you navigate to the best flavors of coffee. For us coffee lovers, we all know that you can’t start your day any other way.
